Corpus Christi Medical Center
Women in the Coastal Bend now have a convenient, one-stop center for their unique healthcare needs. This spring, Corpus Christi Medical Center’s (CCMC) new facility, The Women’s Center at Bay Area, opened to serve women and infants in a beautiful setting. Located on the campus of CCMC-Bay Area, 7101 South Padre Island Drive, the $3.5 million renovation and construction now houses two of the region’s premier OB/GYN groups, combining the services of physicians and hospital staff to create a center of excellence for the health needs of women and infants.
CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital South
Built in 1994, this 155–bed, full service hospital is located just minutes from the shores of Padre Island. The hospital offers convenient and advanced diagnostic, medical, surgical, obstetric and gynecologic, emergency, geropsychiatric, orthopedic and intensive care services for residents living on the ever growing south side of Corpus Christi.
The hospital is also home to a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that enhances CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi–South’s birthing services by allowing premature babies and newborns with special needs to stay close to their mothers.
Driscoll Children’s Hospital
Driscoll Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care regional referral center offering the most complex and comprehensive medical and surgical care for children. The hospital’s medical staff is comprised of pediatric board–certified specialists in more than 30 medical and 10 surgical specialties. All of Driscoll’s patient care units offer state–of–the–art services and the latest technology for the treatment of newborns, infants, and children with life threatening illnesses and injuries.
Driscoll provides the best possible care for the children of South Texas with in–house Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) coverage, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With this coverage, a board–certified neonatologist is in the hospital, ready to respond, around–the–clock. The hospital modeled this service after its already–successful 24/7 in–house Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) coverage implemented in 2002. Driscoll follows a nationwide trend of other children’s hospitals offering 24/7 in–house coverage in their NICUs as well.
